Pathway – Cluj Napoca Walkway commission

Casa Matei Corvin.

This installation was made in the birthplace of the famous Hungarian King in the Romanian Town of Cluj Napoca.

Using the textures lining the medieval streets outside the house as reference, over a period of one week, Kara played with shapes loosely resembling cobblestones in the medieval streets surrounding the building. The casa (house) is now used as the Art Theory department of the Cluj Academy of Art. The academy is an important school for the study of ceramics as well as Fine Art. This residency was used as an opportunity for students to further their understanding of contemporary approaches to ceramics.
