‘The work by Karen Lyons has a vitality that results from the sense of opposites fighting. The title of the exhibition, Proscenium hints that here may be an element of theatre involved in the exhibition. The sculptures include tables and the associated drawings a thick horizontal line, which the artist sees as a mini stages on which an event has occurred, with the moment frozen in time.

Karen Lyons has deliberately made the surfaces of her work very sumptuous, tactile and attractive to us. We are always aware of the materials they are made of and the physical actions of the artist that went into making them.’
