Peter Scott Gallery, Lancaster
Installation
Graphite, printed acetate, mirrors
The three focal motifs in this installation posit questions of gender identity by overlaying symbols of the feminine and decorative against a bold and aggressive aesthetic style of image making. Reference is made to the psychosexual role within gender construction with particular reference to Lacan’s mirror stage.
This is the second
in the Heritage series. The first was exhibited in The Franklin Furness Gallery, New York 1987.
